Hart – A much needed clean sheet after the midweek Hart-bashing. Has dealt with his fair share of criticism in the right manner, by going out on the pitch and making some top notch saves. Handling especially was good – 7.5

Boateng – One of his better days at right back. Managed to get forward fairly frequently and was solid in defence. With Micah Richards expected to be fit for the derby, it will be interesting to see whether it is Boateng or Touré to partner Kompany – 7

K. Touré – Secure enough. Wasn’t tested a great deal in the first half but dealt with everything with relative comfort – 7

Kompany – As sound as you could have wished for. Not the most difficult test but we needed a clean sheet to boost confidence before the derby and we got one. Can expect to be in the thick of the action next Saturday – 7

Zabaleta – Provided far more solid defensive cover than Kolarov. Jumped into a few tackles and I felt that Mancini should have taken him off just in case. But his awarenss and reliability allows the option of Kolarov further forward – 7

Milner – As per usual with Milner. Lots of effort, lots of running and his industrious play allows the likes of Silva and Tévez to cause havoc. Receives criticism from those who don’t realise just how effective he is, but I’m a fan, as are Mancini and Capello – 6.5

Y. Touré – I know I’ve been critical of him in the past and I would like him to prove me wrong, but he isn’t doing anywhere near enough. Looked very lethargic and lazy, only occasionaly showing glimpses of his talent. With de Jong back for the derby, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Yaya drop to the bench – 5

Barry – Worked hard in the centre as he always does. Helped run the game in the first half and kept things solid enough in the second half. Very underrated and will be key figure in the derby – 7

Kolarov – Before the match, I felt that his move forward to the left of midfield would benefit the likes of Džeko, as the Serbian’s crossing ability would create chances for our new signing. But even without the former Wolfsburg man, Kolarov had an impressive game. Retention of the ball was good and with Zabaleta behind him, we looked solid down the left – 7.5

Silva – Majestic. When at his best, he is a wonderful player to watch. The way he caresses the ball and oozes control cannot be replicated by any City teammate. Whilst Tévez takes the plaudits for scoring the goals, it is the diminutive Spaniard who keeps us ticking – 8.5

Tévez – Lead by example as he so often does when we need him. Looked liberated in the absence of Džeko, as if he again was the centre of attention. Two nicely taken penalties and a delightful second goal – 8

Džeko – Didn’t really impose himself on the game and his first touch let him down on a couple of occasions. Will be on the bench again next week for the derby – 6

SWP – Nice to see him return and he went on one impressive run, culminating in a decent shot – No time to mark

Razak – Debut for yet another Academy graduate. Looked confident in his brief time on the pitch – No time to mark

Good player ratings. But i think that kolorov deserved an 8 he was brilliant. He will be even better with Dzeko to pick out in the box.

I totally agree with you on Milner. He is the sort of player who does a lot of work in the backgroud that allows players like Silva and Tevez do the obvious.

Unfortunately, I have personally been disappointment by Yaya’s performances though I am a fan, and I believe Mancini should warrant him some bench time. No one should take the starting 11 as granted.

I hope Mancini utilises Kolorov at left mid for the derby. He is a player who wants to get involved and take the game to our opponents. This is exactly what we need on Satarday. Oh and Silva is a hero and so under rated by fans of other clubs. I am sick of the usual Gareth bale soundbites, Siva is world class and part of a hugely gifted generation of Spamish players that would run rings around any of the hyped up “homegrown” players (just think Bent and Carroll)

I agree, homegrown players seem to fritter it away much more tham Spamish players.

Tevez was the majestic one for me, his commitment on the pitch along with his thirst for goals will hopefully put us in situations where we can win things this year. Kolarov, Kompany and Silva all had really good games and the usual suspects of Zabaleta, Milner and Barry did the jobs that are vital to any sucessful team. The main sticking point for me is a certain Yaya Toure, he did not have a good game at all, though he did not do anything seriously wrong either. There is no doubt in my mind he is a world class player but some of his decisions, both passing wise and positional, have let him down recently and he has not been at his best. Couple that with the almost lethargic way he carries himself and he can easily be the one who gets it when things are not going well. He will come good, and do not be surprised if it’s in the Derby.

We desperately need Micah to recover from this injury so that he can slot into right back and we can move Boateng into center back alongside Kompany. Micah and Boateng along with David Luiz are the three best young defenders in the world and we are lucky enough to have two of them on our team. Those 2 need to play every week alongside Kompany. Kick Kolo to the curb as these two are both infinitely better than him

I agree with the boateng and Kompany combo but it wont happen in the derby, central defenders need a mutual understanding and this needs time to develop. And although i would love Richards back against United rushing players back from injury is never a good idea. Just look at Stephen Ireland’s disgaceful fall from grace!
